In order to achieve healthy weight loss, we have to remain persistent, dedicated and moreover, patient. Many of us expect to shed weight and develop a toned body with a matter of weeks, but it will take time and patience to notice a visual improvement. Despite this, there are ways to speed up the process by making small adjustments to our existing lifestyle — most of which are a change in mentality rather than diet. These ten tips will hopefully inspire you to become more dedicated and improve your life for the better with the introduction of new exercise routines and activities which you can enjoy and benefit from.

1. Develop a habit of eating healthy small amounts, often.
2. Calorie counting is difficult, so don’t obsess over it. Educated estimates will suffice, so long as you are taking in fewer calories until you reach your goal.
3. Don’t weigh yourself too often. It takes time for your body to change, so weighing yourself once per week is plenty. Any more than this can have a negative effect on you, leading you to think you are making no progress.
4. Take some time to plan your daily routine before you begin and ensure you abide by all the activities you plan.
5. Gradually reduce calorie consumption. Once you feel your current level of calorie intake is producing no more weight loss, reduce your daily calorie intake slightly until you find the right balance. Massive calorie reductions, over a small period of time will do more harm than good — pace yourself.
6. If you wish to completely erase a certain food from your diet, then cut them out slowly, as you replace it with a healthier alternative.
7. One step at a time. There really is no rush to weight loss, and pacing yourself will keep you motivated and prevent you becoming frustrated at slow results.
8. Make small realistic goals. Again, this keeps you motivated and be sure to enjoy your efforts once you achieve each goal.
9. Nutrient ratio should not become an obsession. As long as you are active enough and eating fewer calories, the weight will reduce regardless of carbohydrates and protein consumption.
10. Retain your existing food choices, but replace them with the lower fat versions. This feels less like a diet, and is much more likely to be adhered to over a long period of time.
